Baptist Health@Work

Baptist Health@Work’s innovative wellness approach is based on our considerable history of occupational health and wellness experience serving more than 8,000 employers statewide. Additionally, our program is supported by a healthcare delivery system dedicated to caring for the physiological and psychosocial needs of our community.

Baptist Health at WorkFactors such as work stress and chronic disease can lead to poor employee productivity and uncontrolled chronic conditions, which result in lost revenue and high health claims for the employer. Through surveys, interviews and biomedical techniques, Baptist Health@Work will assess the overall health and wellness of your workforce and workplace, and provide targeted, evidence-based resources to relieve these risk factors, thereby reducing the economic stress placed on you, the employer.

In today’s economic climate, many businesses are becoming more proactive in their approach to health and wellness in an attempt to reduce the impact of health care benefits on their bottom lines. Many have chosen to become self-insured and manage their employee benefits internally. This strategy provides the employer more leverage and incentive to hold employees accountable for lifestyle-related risk factors.

At Baptist Health@Work, we will partner with you to look for innovative solutions – not only providing a wellness program, but also serving as your health and wellness consultant.

Solutions

At Baptist Health@Work, our approach to wellness is multi-dimensional. We understand that health and wellness mean many things to many people and we model our programs to support that.

Most obvious are the biometric measurements we use to reveal underlying chronic conditions which need to be managed. Additionally, our health risk assessments will identify unhealthy personal behaviors that may be modifiable. That represents the starting point to a more customized and personal approach to employee wellness. A summary of our wellness components includes:

Health Risk Assessment (HRA)

A health risk assessment is either a paper-and-pencil or computerized questionnaire used to assess “self-reported” risk factors (those risk factors that the individuals themselves report). This data is compiled and analyzed by qualified clinical staff, with the intent of addressing any modifiable risk factors and making individual and employer-wide recommendations.

Biometrics

Our biometric data collection extends to a wide variety of health risk tests, including measurements of blood pressure, blood type, body mass index, tobacco use, substance abuse and susceptibility to cardiovascular disease.

Health and Productivity Management (HPM)

This is a management approach to improve the health and productivity of a workforce. HPM uses a variety of interventions to help employees change unhealthy behaviors and create a corporate culture which promotes health and productivity. HPM can include health benefit design, disability management, workers’ compensation, occupational health and other health-related employee programs.

Wellness Coaching/Counseling

Baptist Health at WorkWellness coaching is not the same as having a personal trainer, since exercise is not always the behavioral change which needs to occur. In contrast, a person who is a wellness coach works with clients to encourage them to change aspects of their lives that are most unhealthy – this could include changing dietary habits, getting more exercise or quitting smoking. A Baptist Health@Work wellness coach won’t simply tell a person he or she has to start dropping or engaging in behaviors. The coach will work with a client to figure out how life presently contributes to those behaviors, and what can be done to change so behavior modifications are easier.

Dedicated Primary Care Clinic

Baptist Health@Work can provide an “on-site” primary care medical clinic at the employer’s site, which includes scheduled access to a Baptist primary care physician, as well as on-site medication dispensing. This “on-site medical office” will become the primary care home for the employees and their dependents. This clinic is offered in conjunction with a proprietary network of healthcare providers, which includes all Baptist Health Network physicians and facilities. This model can result in greater access to primary care and significant savings for the employer.

Employee Newsletter

Baptist Hospital East and Baptist Hospital Northeast currently provide an employee wellness newsletter – Healthy You! – to hundreds of employers in the area. The employer will receive hard copies for distribution. This service is available free of charge to all Baptist Health@Work clients.

Executive Physicals

Busy professionals and others interested in a thorough physical exam – complete with clinical testing and evaluation offered in a coordinated, timely manner – may choose to participate in our Executive Physical Program. Our executive physicals are administered at our Baptist Eastpoint facility, where quality medical care is delivered to the client, with guidance from your personal nurse navigator.

Our Executive Physical Program provides top-of-the-line clinical evaluation without the expense and hassle of traveling hundreds of miles for the same level of care. The client will enjoy VIP treatment from beginning to end. Upon completion of the executive physical, the client will receive a customized summary of results and follow-up consultation from the physician.
