Western Baptist’s pneumonia, heart failure, and surgical care recognized in the top 20 percent of national project.
Western Baptist Hospital’s pneumonia care recently earned a national top performer award, while its heart failure and surgery care were recognized for significant improvements – all placing them in the top 20 percent of a national quality project.
The recognition came from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in the Premier Healthcare Alliance value-based purchasing project that rewards hospitals for delivering high quality care.
Western Baptist was one of three hospitals who earned 11 of 12 possible awards in eligible areas. The top 20 percent were recognized as Top Performers, and the Top Improvement award was given to the top 20 percent with the greatest quality improvements.
Western Baptist also received an Attainment Performance award in heart attack care. Attainment awards are given to the top 50 percent of participating hospitals that attain or exceed median level performance.
