Baptist Northeast reduces linen costs
Baptist Hospital Northeast realized a nine percent decrease in pounds of linen used per adjusted patient days in Fiscal Year 2009, compared to the prior year, even though adjusted patient days increased three percent.
The decrease was accomplished through daily monitoring of linen usage and a change in linen companies. Linen costs decreased 21 percent in FY 2009.
Baptist Northeast’s linen usage dropped from 12.9 pounds per adjusted patient day in FY 2008 to 11.7 in FY 2009. The national average is 14.6 pounds per adjusted patient day.
